Support from a midwife begins during pregnancy

In Switzerland, pregnancy check-ups are mainly carried out by gynaecologists. However, these check-ups can also be carried out by midwives, which means that there is a rotation between gynaecologists and midwives. This gives you the opportunity to get to know your midwife before the birth and discuss various topics relating to pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.

During a pregnancy check-up with a midwife, the following is done:

•    Measurement of the Blood pressure

•    Abdominal measurement and palpation of the baby

•    Listening to the baby's heartbeat

•    Blood sampling or urine test as necessary

•    Depending on the week of pregnancy, various topics are discussed

There is also time to discuss any concerns you may have
